History Made Yesterday and Today
In 1917, Dallas was a small Texas town surrounded by endless miles of flat prairie. In October of that war year the U.S. Army planted a training base well to the north of town and scraped out a grass landing strip used for training recon pilots. Army barracks and a couple of hangars rounded out the base. In honor of an Army aviator, Moss Love who died in a 1913 crash in California, the base named Love field.
In the post war year, the surrounding land was developed into roads and lots that housed military families; the nondescript neighborhood grew humbly from there and eventually became a semi-rural part of Dallas. As the air field itself grew over the decades to serve bother commercial and general aviation, the neighborhood only deteriorated.
Now, nearly a century later, with the repeal of the Wright Amendment the airport is now open to unlimited-destination departures. This has triggered expansion of facilities, the opening of a new Virgin Airlines terminal, and has invigorated residential and commercial growth. To take advantage of this formerly unremarkable but now demographically ripe property, Anderson Homes Dallas has started to build the hottest homes near Love Field Airport.
